Liketu Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Liketu handles information when you use the
Liketu mobile app, web app, and related services at liketu.net
and liketu.social.
Liketu is a photo-first social app built around Hive. Some activity you choose to publish is written to the Hive blockchain or other public networks. Public blockchain data is durable, globally visible, and may not be removable by Liketu.
For privacy questions, support requests, or data requests, contact info@liketu.org.
Information you provide or create
Liketu may handle the following information depending on which features you use:
- Hive account handle, profile details, follow relationships, votes, comments, replies, and other public Hive activity.
- Photos, videos, captions, stories, clips, voice posts, audio, transcripts, translations, profile images, and other user-generated content you upload or publish.
- Chat messages, chat images, voice notes, reactions, read receipts when enabled, conversation metadata, blocks, and reports.
- Rooms activity such as room membership, consent state, live participation, captions, transcripts, replays, tips, reactions, and moderation reports.
- Around location sessions, including your selected status, short prompt, coarse location cell, nearby discovery activity, intros, and Around reports. Around is opt-in and time-limited.
- Atlas place and map data when you add location to posts. You can publish exact coordinates, approximate coordinates, owner-only exact coordinates with public approximation, or no coordinates. Sensitive places are generalized by default.
- Health and fitness information when you use Health features, such as step counts, time zone, source, sleep, energy, mood, soreness, recovery notes, private notes, meal photos, meal notes, estimated nutrition, profile targets, and linked activity references. Health information is private by default unless you choose to publish a summary or proof post.
- Wallet, market, digital asset, billing, invoice, and transaction-related metadata needed to show account balances, submit signed actions, reconcile transfers, operate marketplace features, or provide receipts.
- Notification settings, push tokens, browser push subscriptions, device labels, user agent, app version, delivery attempts, and read/dismiss state.
- Bug reports and diagnostics you submit, including your message, attempted action, route, platform, operating system, browser or user agent, app version, build information, recent redacted client errors, recent redacted network events, and screenshots if you attach them.
- Personalization and app activity signals, such as views, saves, listens, search or discovery interactions, feature usage, and recommendation feedback.
Hive keys and signing
Liketu does not need your Hive owner key. Posting-key sign-in validates your posting authority locally. If you choose to save a posting key on a native device, Liketu stores it on that device using Expo SecureStore where available, encrypted behind your device/PIN flow. On web, keys may be held in browser storage for session or convenience features. Liketu servers receive signed operations, signed challenges, public keys, or session tokens needed to verify actions; they should not receive your private posting key for ordinary signing flows.
Some advanced wallet or market actions may require you to authorize Hive or related network operations. Those actions are signed intentionally by you and may become public on-chain records.
Apple Health and HealthKit data
If you grant permission, the iOS app can read step count data from Apple Health for Health Day Cards and StepJar qualification. Health data is used only for the health, fitness, challenge, and proof features you choose to use. Liketu does not use Apple Health data for advertising or sell it to data brokers.
When Health data is synced to Liketu services, it may be stored with your Hive username so your health views, cards, challenges, and optional public proofs work across sessions. You control whether Health summaries are private or published.
Location data
Liketu uses location only for features you choose to use:
- Around uses coarse, time-limited location cells so nearby users can discover each other while a session is active.
- Atlas lets you decide whether a post has exact, approximate, private exact/public approximate, or hidden location.
- Map features may use third-party map SDKs or services to display maps, places, and search results.
Do not publish exact locations that you consider private. Public coordinates written to Hive can remain visible through blockchain history even if you later edit or remove them from Liketu.
How we use information
Liketu uses information to:
- Provide the app, website, backend services, media hosting, chat, rooms, notifications, wallet, market, Health, Around, Atlas, and Digital Assets features.
- Publish content and actions you authorize to Hive or related public networks.
- Store drafts, media, messages, preferences, account state, and feature settings.
- Moderate user-generated content, process reports, review appeals, enforce restrictions, and keep audit history.
- Detect abuse, protect users, prevent spam, rate-limit services, and maintain security.
- Personalize feeds, search, recommendations, dashboards, and discovery experiences.
- Debug crashes, respond to support requests, and improve reliability.
- Comply with legal obligations and store review requirements.
Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
Liketu may use cookies, local storage, session storage, secure device storage, or similar technologies to keep the app working. These technologies can support sign-in sessions, saved accounts, local posting-key vault state, drafts, preferences, notification settings, UI state, security, diagnostics, and reliability.
Liketu does not use cookies or local storage to sell personal information or run cross-site advertising. If Liketu adds non-essential marketing, advertising, or cross-site tracking technologies, Liketu will request consent where required.
Public content and blockchain data
Content you publish to Hive, or actions you broadcast to Hive, may be public by design. This can include posts, captions, media links, tags, votes, follows, comments, replies, beneficiary settings, wallet actions, and metadata. Liketu can hide or reduce distribution of content on Liketu-controlled surfaces, but Liketu cannot delete records from the Hive blockchain.
Moderation and safety
Liketu provides reporting, blocking, moderation queues, appeals, content hiding, account restrictions, and audit history. Reports may include reporter and target identifiers, reported content references, reason codes, optional details, timestamps, and staff actions. Moderation decisions can affect whether content or accounts appear on Liketu-controlled surfaces.
Third-party services
Liketu may use third-party services to operate the app, including:
- Hive RPC nodes, Hive Keychain where selected by the user, and related blockchain infrastructure.
- Media storage and CDN providers for uploaded images, videos, audio, generated assets, and private signed media.
- Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Expo notification tooling, and browser push providers for notifications.
- Google Maps or related map services for map display, place search, and location features.
- Live audio/video infrastructure for Rooms.
- AI or media-processing providers for transcription, translation, meal-photo analysis, image generation, moderation assistance, diagnostics, or bug triage.
- GIF, link preview, analytics, email, hosting, database, security, and infrastructure providers.
These providers may process information on Liketu's behalf or receive information directly from your device through their SDKs or network services. Liketu is responsible for declaring data practices accurately in App Store Connect and Google Play Console, including data handled by integrated SDKs.
Sharing information
Liketu may share information:
- At your direction, such as when you publish to Hive, send a chat message, join a room, start Around, publish a Health proof, or list a digital asset.
- With service providers that operate hosting, storage, notifications, media processing, maps, AI features, analytics, security, and support.
- With moderators or administrators who need access to review reports, appeals, safety issues, abuse, or support requests.
- With public blockchain networks when you authorize on-chain actions.
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, users, or the service.
Liketu does not sell personal information.
Your choices and controls
You can:
- Use preview mode to browse with a Hive handle without saving a posting key.
- Lock, remove, or stop saving posting keys on supported devices.
- Choose what content to publish, and whether location or health summaries are included.
- Disable or adjust notifications where supported.
- Stop Around sessions and avoid starting location-based discovery.
- Use chat blocking and reporting tools.
- Request access, correction, deletion, or support by contacting info@liketu.org.
Some requests may be limited by public blockchain records, legal requirements, security needs, or the need to preserve moderation and abuse-prevention records.
Retention
Liketu keeps information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet safety and legal needs, maintain records, or support features you use. Examples:
- Public Hive data may be retained indefinitely by the Hive network and third-party indexers.
- Uploaded media and public content may be retained while associated posts, messages, rooms, assets, or accounts remain active.
- Around sessions are time-limited and coarse; expired session records may be purged from operational storage, while reports or intros may be retained longer for safety and abuse prevention.
- Chat, Health, notification, billing, moderation, diagnostic, and support records are retained as needed for the feature, user controls, safety, accounting, or legal compliance.
Children
Liketu is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Liketu, contact info@liketu.org.
Security
Liketu uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including local secure storage for saved keys where available, encryption for certain sensitive local payloads, signed challenge flows, redaction of bug-report secrets, access controls for administrative tools, and HTTPS for production services. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
International use
Liketu may process and store information in countries other than your own. Public blockchain records are globally distributed.
Changes
Liketu may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The updated date at the top shows when the policy was last revised.
